What’s better than a wine shop?

I had some friends turn 21 this spring, and to celebrate the coming-of-age I wanted to take them somewhere to try different wines. Since we don’t have the luxury of living near gorgeous wineries, I came across The Wine Feed and knew it was the place for us.

Walking up, I immediately loved the front patio. With big red umbrellas and wrought iron chairs, it’s the perfect spot to enjoy a glass of wine in the evening. The Wine Feed is located on Glenwood Avenue, so it’s easy to get to and close to lots of other fun shops and restaurants.

Since my friends were new at this whole wine thing, I ordered several flights for us to share.

We tried the three in the photo: a trio of North Carolina wines, a trio of blends, and one set of a white, rose, and red. I wanted to make sure everyone got to find something they liked!

I’m not discerning enough to give a detailed rundown of each one we tasted. But I can give some highlights:

Of the whites, the Sanctuary “The Pearl” turned out to be my favorite. It felt like the type of wine you’d have on a relaxing evening, sitting in a rocking chair overlooking the ocean.

The most unusual one had to be the Lebanese wine! We tried Ixsir “Altitudes” and it ended up being Logan’s favorite! We teased him mercilessly that he only loved it because of the loganberry.

My favorite red would have to be the Cal Ballett red blend. I almost ALWAYS love blends and this one hit the spot for me. I’m noticing that I generally like grenache grapes, and this was no exception!

Of course everything we tasted was for sale, and many more!

We loved sampling some wines at The Wine Feed, and the guy behind the counter was really friendly and knowledgable, but also didn’t hover too much as we talked about wine like the amateurs we are.

The next time I’m on Glenwood looking for a place to relax, I’ll head to The Wine Feed!
